90-year old Brian Norrey becomes oldest person to abseil

On Saturday 17th July these two gentlemen showed that age does not stand in the way of achieving your ambitions!

Brian Norrey (90 years) and Ken Warren (86 years) both took on the challenge of the World’s Highest Abseil to raise money for the chosen charities.

Brian raised money for Children with Cancer UK and Ken for the NSPCC.

Both gentlemen have links with the Tower, Ken is a retired firefighter and Brian was a structural engineer who was involved in the building of the Tower.

Brian now holds the record as the oldest person to undertake the challenge to date.

This was an incredible experience and such a great way to raise money for your favourite charity. My sister and I were both very scared but the staff were amazing at calming our nerves. Everybody was really friendly and helpful. The views are amazing. If only I hadn’t been in such a hurry to get to the bottom!

What an amazing time! I had some major doubts in signing up for this and only did it a week beforehand I felt so sick standing at the top of that tower but what a great team they having working there. I felt totally reassured that is was safe and that they knew what they were doing. Incredible experience, so well organised, and I so want to do it again now!! Thank you to all the team there!
